Food for Thought

“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.”

Thank you, nursing instructors for this little bit of inspiration.

Adventures

So it's been a while.

When I began this grand year of 2013, I had the surest feeling that it would be a great year.
And it has been so far!
It's been an interesting year, for sure.
We've still got 3 more months to go before this year wraps up, but already, so much has happened.
Since I last posted, my newest niece, Indiana May, was born in May, I adventured to Europe in July, and started nursing school in August. And between each adventure there has been a different small and personal adventure. I've seen small changes in myself already, and they assure me in nursing school that I will not be the same person when I graduate in 2015.
It's hard to believe this is real. I'm actually on my way to being a nurse. But I think I may possibly drown in all of the extensive reading that is required of me. Whew. But I can do this!

C'mon 2013... bring on the rest of your adventures!

Here's a few sneak peeks at my last several months.

Oh I miss this baby girl so much... She's now almost 4 months old!

This was a first real view of London!!

 Bonjour, Paris!!

So we rode on the world's smallest elevator in our Paris hotel.
We got a little stir crazy on our way up to the 5th floor.

 Bruges. Isn't it beautiful?

And Amsterdam.

Perhaps I'll post more on these adventures later in life.
For now...

I'm probably going to read some nursing books.

Have a wonderful day!

Le Fleur

I don't know if I can fully explain the extent of my love of flowers.
Bring me flowers any day of the week and I'll be happy.
The beauty is just overwhelming.
So tonight, as I procrastinate, here are some beautiful flowers
(thank you Pinterest)
I'd lie in this field forever

But seriously, if my house could overflow with flowers constantly, I'd be perfectly happy.

A flower market in Mexico, how gorgeous.

Los Angeles

Hello little blog!
I'm currently in Los Angeles visiting my brother!
Want to see a few pictures?
Alright!

Day Two:

(Day One, i flew into Los Angeles, ate In-n-Out, chilled with Caleb, and fell asleep before 7 pm)

I was able to hang out with my Framily
(closer than friends + almost family = framily)
Brennan and Khara (and their adorable pup Mojo) took me to Griffith Park today!

You can never eat too much of this.

 Selfie?
As long as it's in front of one of the most incredible views!!
This city has been amazing so far!!

Me and Khara, fresh picked flowers!

It was an incredible day.

And then we finished our evening with Intelligentsia coffee.
Quite the perfect hipster, people-watching kind of place.
And good coffee.

I look forward to the rest of the week!!!

Those Winter Sundays

How many of you thought of your own dad and the small, quiet things they did in love?

Those Winter Sundays
by Robert Hayden

Sundays too my father got up early
and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold,
then with cracked hands that ached
from labor in the weekday weather made
banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him.

I'd wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking.
When the rooms were warm, he'd call,
and slowly I would rise and dress,
fearing the chronic angers of that house,

Speaking indifferently to him,
who had driven out the cold
and polished my good shoes as well.
What did I know, what did I know
of love's austere and lonely offices?

Filmy days

I got another roll of film developed.
A couple weekends ago I went down to the beach with my parents.
And Jordan!
Man, I miss all of my brothers so much.
Saturday we went to the Blue Angels' air show at Pensacola (as you can see with the previous post).
And then today, Asa and Nathan came to Birmingham to longboard!
Of course I'll take a study break and do something better than studying.
I was extra excited about this roll of film, and well.. here are some of them.
So enjoy!

 This is my brother Jordan.
Yes, he's awesome.

Jordan at the beach.
Cool shorts, bro.

What better thing to do than journal and read Peter Pan?

Jamie and I went to Pepper Place Market one morning.
It couldn't have been a more perfect day!

I longboard.
(......well.....not really..very slowly..but I try)

Nathan doin some cool tricks

Okay this picture is one of my favorites because I didn't expect Asa to be in focus, I didn't expect the lighting to be so cool.

Well..not much can be said about this.
(note the longboard right next to me)

More sweet moves from Nathan!

Railroad Park is a happy place!

It was an unusual but enjoyable day.

I love my camera.

Have a beautiful day!

Blue Angels

If you ever get the chance to see a Blue Angels airshow, I highly suggest you do all that you can to go!
I've grown up seeing their shows and every time they never cease to impress.
Airplanes are just amazing.
So here's a few pictures I took on my mom's iphone (Maybe i'll have my own one day)

They can get as close as 18 inches from each other.

This was the opener of the Blue Angels' show, Fat Albert, a C-130.

This has been such a fun weekend already!

Oh, and this is my brother Jordan.
I've missed him a lot.
Yeah, that's right he's awesome.
